Bangor Boccia Club is a club for people with disabilities, so we want everyone to be able to use this website easily, whatever device or assistive technology they use. This statement explains what we have done, what we know still needs work, and how to tell us if something is hard to use.
Our commitment
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at level AA. We are a small volunteer-run club, so we may not get everything right first time, but we will fix problems as quickly as we can when they are reported to us.
What we have done
We have designed the website so that you can:
- read it in plain English, with short sections and clear headings;
- use it with a keyboard, a switch or a screen reader, with a link to skip straight to the contact form;
- see clearly where you are on the page when moving around with a keyboard;
- zoom in to at least 200% without text or content being cut off;
- use it comfortably on a phone or tablet, with large buttons that are easy to tap;
- turn off movement and animation by using the "reduce motion" setting on your device;
- read text and buttons that have strong colour contrast, and images that have text descriptions.
What may be harder to use
- The "Calendar" view of our events is provided by Google Calendar and may be harder to use with a screen reader. The "Events" list, which is shown first, contains the same information in a simpler layout.
- Our videos are hosted on YouTube. Captions are provided by the video owners, so their accuracy can vary.
- Our registration form is hosted by Google Forms. If you find it hard to use, contact us and we will take your details another way.
- The Player of the Week image you can save or share is a picture, so its text cannot be read by a screen reader.
Getting information another way
If anything on this website is hard for you to use, or you would prefer the information in another format such as large print, over the phone, or in person at a session, just ask. Email bangorbocciaclub@gmail.com or speak to any volunteer at a Thursday session.

We would love to hear about anything that got in your way, no matter how small. Please tell us which page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what device or assistive technology you were using. We will reply as soon as we can and do our best to put it right.
